This part of the Via Francigena includes Altopascio, with the headquarters of the National “Città del Pane” Association – a total of 50 Italian Municipalities which enhance their typical bread protecting and promoting its qualities. Altopascio is one of these and is famous for its delicious bread, typically saltless!
The wine and olive oil routes are food and drink touristic itineraries going from the hills around Lucca up to the Vinci area with the aim to promote the territory’s typical produce like DOP olive oil and DOC wine while underlining the beauty of the territory which attracts many tourists.
San Baronto is the patron saint of all cyclists as witnessed by the famous monument found at the very top of mount Montalbano. From this point, which attracts many tourists, you get the most magnificent perspective of the surrounding plain. Many cycling competitions for beginners and professionals are held here where anyone can train on the uphill or simply enjoy the landscape!


Route: the distance will be decided upon the tourist’s cycling skills and training.
